I really should be going to bed but…

if you’re a “faithful follower” who knows a thing or two (or three) about me, then you know:

I’m perpetually taken and enamored to every single piece of Jessie.
I like to brag about how lucky I am to have her and how unlucky you are to not have her.
The first of every month is our day. And I always, always, always brag on our day.

June 30, 2010 was a Wednesday. I drove my car to my best friend Taylor’s house around 10 or 11 or so at night and we went bike riding. We rode to a park in Bensenville…wish I could remember the name of it. I think it’s Redwood or something like that. Anyway. The whole ride there I’m pretty sure I was telling her all about Jessie. About the weekend previous and how we went on our first date. I told her about our first kiss. I told her everything. When I left to go home, it was well after midnight, making it July 1, 2010. I called Jessie on the way home and we were talking on the phone while I was getting settled into bed. I can’t remember what we were talking about but I remember she almost said she loved me. But she stopped. She said she wanted to tell me something but she was scared. I told her to hold on and typed a text message to her. I explained to her that I knew what she felt because I felt it too. Because I wanted to tell her the previous Friday (June 25). She read the message then asked me on the phone, “What did you want to tell me?” and I said, “I’m in love with you.” And she said it back. We may have chatted a while longer before retiring to bed.

The next day (still July 1), I went to her house. She led me to the basement where I was presented with a candlelit room with lilies (my favorite flower) and my basketball (our first date consisted of a game in her driveway). On my basketball written in green puffy paint were the words, “Will you be my girlfriend?”

I kissed her and said yes.
